Penguin Movie

A few months ago in a post about using video clips in class, I mentioned a short animated movie called “Penguins.”

It was created by Adam Harum, who was a high school student at the time. (He’s still creating movies, but now he’s winning Emmy awards for his work!)

I loved using this movie with students. There is no dialogue, but there’s a clear story, making it fantastic for teaching plot and other elements of literature. I used it with my 7th grade reading students to introduce my plot curve diagram, so they could get familiar with the format before using it on actual reading materials.

And the movie is funny. Every time I show it, students ask to watch it again and again.
